Young HERO Program

Physical activity is an essential component to a healthy lifestyle. HERO USA’s Young Hero Program is designed to show children how to incorporate healthy, active sports and recreational opportunities into their daily lives, providing them first hand experiences which they will remember all their lives.

Teaching children the importance of being active and living a healthy lifestyle can be challenging considering that eight to 18 year old adolescents spend an average of over 6 hours a day in sedentary activities using entertainment media such as TV, computers, video games, cell phones and movies. To increase physical activity, HERO USA’s Young Hero Program’s main focus is to provide any and all children access to actually experience sports not typically offered via physical education programs in schools. Some examples of these include kayaking, canoeing, snowboarding, mountain biking, cycling, skiing and hiking.

By introducing children to these non-team focused sports, HERO USA’s Young Hero Program can give them opportunities to learn about healthy activities they never even knew existed. These activities also empower children by essentially being non-competitive in nature. By showing a child that there are alternatives to team sports, HERO USA can include every child in this program regardless of size, weight, age or athletic ability.

There are no winners or losers in HERO USA’s Young Hero Program – only participants! Imagine the power of giving a child the opportunity to experience something new – to pique interest in a sport they never dreamed of doing – to allow them to have fun and get physical exercise all at the same time. HERO USA’s Young Hero Program gives children the chance to learn to live the 'HERO' lifestyle and teach others to do the same.
